With the New Year upon us, I've been reflecting a lot on 2018. It felt like the year flew by, but I think we accomplished a lot, not only personally, but here on Houston Hotspots as well! As we plan for the new year and set goals and resolutions, like I'm sure a lot of you out there are currently doing, I wanted to take a moment to look back at some of our favorite restaurants that we visited. Most of them were brand new to Houston this year and some have been long time veterans that we might have just now discovered!
Regardless, they were all excellent and are well worth mentioning again in our 2018 highlights! Here they are in no particular order:
A food truck specializing in Korean BBQ fused with Mexican flavors. Everything on their menu is a huge flavor explosion, so if you're looking to indulge, this is your spot. You can normally find them outside of Little Woodrow's Midtown or at Kirby Ice House. And a huge plus, they are Halal friendly!
If you're in the mood for something healthy - smoothies, pressed juices, or bowls - Earthcraft is amazing. They opened up earlier this year, and their bowls are by far my favorite ever.
Another 2018 opening - EggHaus Gourmet a.k.a., the ultimate breakfast spot. Their egg sandwiches are premium quality, and they have a variety of beautiful pastries. One of which is the matcha croissant with is sprinkled with gold flecks. Not only is their food Instagrammable, but so is the restaurant itself! This one is a must.
The sister company of Tacos A Go Go takes on fajitas! There are a lottt of places to get fajitas in Houston, but we personally love Fajitas A Go Go. They really know how to flavor and cook their meat to perfection.
Another healthy spot that's super accommodating for all sorts of dietary restrictions without sacrificing the integrity of the food. Flower Child opened its first location in Houston this year and will be opening one in The Woodlands soon!
Wokker started out as a food truck, but they also have a location inside the Craft Beer Cellar in Downtown. As you may be able to see from our photo above, they serve up traditional Asian dishes while incorporating Southern cooking.
Slurp opened up earlier this year, and we are absolutely obsessed. Not only do they have tasty ramen, but they have a ramen burger that's deeeelicious. We also love them because they don't use any artificial flavorings or additives, and they make all their sauces in house!
A Dallas-original restaurant opened up in the Heights in the latter half of the year, and the seafood is top notch! We really enjoyed the seafood boil, fried catfish, and their bloody mary.
Of course, we couldn't leave off The Roastery. This new coffee shop that first opened in the HEB on Bellaire (more locations to come), serves up delicious breakfast and lunch options and coffee!
Grub wasn't necessarily new in 2018, but they moved locations and reopened during the year!
We love their burgers but honestly come back for their Cheese Fries.
