Tacos Frontera has officially put Tijuana-style tacos on the map in Houston. They've built a reputation fast, and the constant lines are all the proof you need. Right now, there are two locations: one near Jersey Village and a newer outpost in Katy. After our visit, we’re definitely rooting for one inside the loop!
If you’re dining in, you’ll be greeted by a bowl of fresh chicharrones, the perfect snack while you wait. We like ours drenched in their house-made salsa verde—spicy, tangy, and addicting.
Once you place your order, the food comes out hot, fast, and packed with flavor. The star of the show? The carne asada. Grilled to perfection, tender, and full of that unmistakable charred flavor! Their handmade tortillas take it even further—soft, fresh, and the perfect vehicle. Each taco is generously stuffed with meat, fresh guac, onions, and cilantro, and yes, they don’t skimp on the guac! Hit it with some lime, and you get taco heaven.
While the tacos are what bring most people in, the menu goes beyond. You’ll also find mulitas, vampiros, tortas, quesadillas, and burritos! Drinks round things out nicely, too. They offer a variety of agua frescas, margaritas, micheladas, and beers, so you’ll never leave thirsty.
Heads up: they’re closed on Mondays, so plan accordingly. It’s usually busy, but the line moves fast and the wait is worth it!
