Tacos and Tortas and More!: The Little Taco Shop

There’s a brand new taqueria in town! The Little Taco Shop, sister restaurant to Fat Bao, just opened in Upper Kirby! As devoted Taco Tuesday fans, we had to go check it out.

As we entered, we were greeted with the festive sight of colorful walls, banners, and tiles throughout the restaurant. It made us excited to dive into the food since the interior decor and design was so fun!

A great feature of this taqueria is their full bar! Of the drinks we tried, the Spicy Cucumber Margarita was our favorite. The freshness of the cucumber perfectly balanced out the heat. For non-alcoholic options, they offer a wide variety of Jarritos!

Kicking off our meal, we enjoyed a classic trio of apps: queso, salsa, and guacamole! Both salsas they offered complemented each other perfectly, but of course, the queso was our favorite! You just can’t beat melted cheese, what can we say? 🤷‍♀️

Their main menu is broken down into Tacos, Quesadillas, Tortas, Nachos, Tostadas, and Burritos. Just choose your dish and your protein! They offer: carne asada, al pastor, barbacoa, pork belly, shrimp, chicken, and mushroom!

Of the tacos we tried, our favorites were the al pastor, carne asada, and chicken, but all the meats were super tender and flavorful!

In addition to tacos, we tried their Carne Asada Torta, Barbacoa Quesadilla, and Elotes. We loved the soft, crusty bread used in the torta. It made for a great texture when paired with the carne asada! But one of the best bites of the day had to go to the quesadilla. I mean, look at that cheese pull!

If you’re looking to start your day off right, they offer breakfast options like burritos and chilaquiles! The Breakfast Burrito is full of eggs, meat, cheese, and even tater tots! Now that’s what we call a breakfast of champions.
