Weekend Getaway Idea: FlopHouze in Round Top, TX

Since our travel plans have been cancelled for the year and until further notice, we've been trying to think of different ways to spend our vacation days in a safe way. What better way than to explore our own state by car! Texas is HUGE and we have yet to discover even a fraction of it.

One of our most recent unique getaways was to Round Top, TX, where we checked into shipping containers turned eco-chic hotel, The FlopHouze! Yes, you heard that right. Shipping containers!

The cabins are absolutely breathtaking and unexpected on the inside. Not to mention, they're fully equipped with air condition and running water!

Each unit has it's own patio that overlooks an open field to watch some of the biggest sunsets and sunrises and a fire pit stocked with firewood and fire starter.

The FlopHouze also has a super gram-worthy shipping container pool. It is a shared pool and fits only a handful of people comfortably. Fortunately for us, we were able to have the pool to ourselves for a couple of hours each day we were there!

Other amenities include:

-WiFi

-Kitchenette (with some bomb Chemex coffee)

-Free parking

-Hammocks

-Occasional visits from the neighboring cows and horses

-Dog-friendly

Over all of that, the neatest part about these houzes is that they are built sustainably, using mostly refurbished materials, furniture, and decor. Each one is unique!

Round Top is a great central location between Houston and Austin. Just about an hour and a half from both major Texas cities, making it a great weekend getaway spot!
